Scent: a grassy, citrus aroma. Orange, herbaceous, smoky.

Description: This tropical grass is native to Asia and is cultivated in many hot climates. It is also known as melissa grass, fever grass, citronella grass, and geranium grass. It has a yellow-brown and light red tint. It is sometimes mixed with geranium and citronella to imitate rose. It is uplifting and cleansing and is believed to have a sedating effect on the central nervous system. Very effective as a natural insect repellent. Skin irritant! - use highly diluted (1% or less).

Uses: It helps to relieve digestive problems, including flatulence and slow digestion. In Indian Ayurveda, it has been used to relieve infectious virus and high fever. An antiseptic, it improves skin problems and is excellent for treating athlete"s foot.

Qualities: Stomachic, carminative, tonic.
