According to Greek mythology, the nymph Mentha was hotly pursued by Pluto, whose jealous wife Persephone trod her ferociously into the ground. Pluto, however, turned her into an herb, knowing that people would appreciate her for years to come.

Peppermint has been cultivated since ancient times in Japan and China. In Egypt, evidence of a type of peppermint was found in a tomb dating back to 1000 BC.

Our peppermint comes from small family owned farms both in the USA and Switzerland.

Scent: Fresh, minty. It has an energizing effect, and is often used to reduce mental fatigue and improve concentration.

Peppermint aids in digestion and eases upset stomach. It may be useful to reduce pain when used in a rub, and helps to reduce respiratory congestion to improve breathing. Many believe that it works well on sore muscles or in a foot rub for your tired, weary feet. Peppermint is a skin irritant, always use well diluted.

Properties and Uses: Stimulating to a tired brain. Good for headaches. Carminative for gas, indigestion and nausea. Takes the itch out of insect bites, chickenpox, shingles and fungal infections.
